Ballyheigue Castle is a medieval fortification located in the coastal village of Ballyheigue in County Kerry, Ireland. It was built by the Fitzmaurice family in the 16th century and was later occupied by the O'Connells in the 17th century. The castle sits on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and has a commanding view of Ballyheigue Bay. Today, only the outer walls of the castle remain intact, but it is still a popular historic site for visitors to the area. In addition to its historical significance, Ballyheigue Castle is also said to be haunted by a ghostly old woman who has been seen wandering the corridors of the castle.
