About Souhegan Woods
Souhegan Woods is a 248-acre nature preserve located in Amherst, NH. It is owned and managed by the Amherst Land Trust, which was founded in 1975 to preserve open space and wildlife habitat in the area. The preserve features over four miles of trails through diverse habitats such as wetlands, forests, and meadows. Visitors can observe a variety of wildlife including deer, foxes, beavers, and a variety of bird species. In addition to hiking and wildlife observation, Souhegan Woods offers opportunities for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and other outdoor activities. The preserve is open to the public free of charge from dawn to dusk year-round.
