About Awali Golf Club
Established in 1937, Awali Golf Club in Bahrain is the oldest golf course in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. This 18-hole, par-70 desert course spans 6,734 yards from the championship tees and is renowned for its unique sand-based 'browns' instead of traditional greens. The club hosts the prestigious Bahrain Open Championship, the first Open competition in the Middle East, inaugurated in 1964 for men and 1988 for women.
