About Fort Meade
Fort Meade is a United States Army installation located in Maryland, just outside of Baltimore. It was established in 1917 as a training ground for troops during World War I and since then has grown into a major military installation. In addition to its role as a training center, Fort Meade also served as a key intelligence gathering and analysis hub during the Cold War. The base has also been home to the headquarters of several agency events like the National Security Agency (NSA) and other federal agencies. Today, Fort Meade is a major employer in the area, with over 56,000 military and civilian employees and contractors working on the installation.
