Waimairi is a suburb located in the north-west of Christchurch, New Zealand. The name "Waimairi" is derived from the Māori language and means "the stream where the kahikatea trees grow". The suburb is primarily a residential area with a mix of old and new houses, as well as some light commercial properties. Waimairi also has a number of parks and reserves, including the Waimairi Beach Golf Course, the Waimairi Stream Reserve, and the Burnside Park. It is also home to the Waimairi School, a primary school that has been serving the community since 1917.
