About Los Inkas

Los Inkas is a popular Peruvian band that was formed in Lima, Peru in 1957. The band mainly specialized in folk and Andean music and was one of the pioneers of the Andean music genre. The band was founded by Jorge "Coco" Rodríguez, who played the charango, a traditional Andean instrument. The band got its name from the historic Inca Empire, as their music was inspired by the ancient Andean culture. With their unique sound, Los Inkas quickly became popular in Peru and across Latin America, and they toured extensively in the 1960s and 1970s. Los Inkas played an important role in promoting Peruvian culture and music to the world. They were one of the first Peruvian bands to perform in Europe, and they also played at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Their music has been featured in many films and television shows, and they continue to be a popular and influential band in Peru and beyond.
