Catalina Island Golf Course, located in Avalon, California, is the oldest operating golf course west of the Mississippi. Originally built in 1892 as a three-hole course, it expanded to nine holes in the early 1900s and to 18 holes in 1929. After World War II, it reverted to its current nine-hole layout, featuring five par 4s and four par 3s.
