Catalina Island Golf Course, located in Avalon, California, is the oldest operating golf course west of the Mississippi. Originally built in 1892 as a three-hole course, it expanded to nine holes in the early 1900s and to 18 holes in 1929. After World War II, it reverted to its current nine-hole layout, featuring five par 4s and four par 3s. The course offers stunning views of Avalon Bay and the Catalina Casino, with small greens and deep bunkers that challenge golfers of all levels.
