Inaugurated in 1909, Golf de Fontainebleau is one of France's oldest courses, originally designed by Julien Chantepie and later redesigned by Tom Simpson in 1920 and extended by Fred Hawtree in 1963. Nestled within the Fontainebleau Forest, the course features narrow fairways lined with diverse tree species and is renowned for its 103 fine sand bunkers and natural obstacles like heather and rocks. Its sandy soil ensures year-round playability, and the Norman-style clubhouse is adorned with frescoes by Paul Tavernier. Recognized as one of Europe's most beautiful courses, it was ranked 5th in continental Europe by 'Golf World' magazine in October 2019.
