About Transit Valley Country Club

The Transit Valley Country Club was first established in 1922, and its original name was the "Transit Golf Club." However, in 1951, it was renamed "Transit Valley Country Club" because of the addition of a swimming pool, tennis courts, and other country club amenities. The golf course was designed by A.W. Tillinghast, who is known for designing some of the most famous golf courses in the world, including Winged Foot Golf Club and Baltusrol Golf Club. The Transit Valley Country Club is considered one of his most underrated designs. In 2019, the Transit Valley Country Club underwent a major renovation and redesign of its bunkers, including adding new sand and reshaping the bunkers to make them more challenging and visually appealing. The clubhouse at the Transit Valley Country Club is also notable, as it was built in 1930 and designed by renowned architect Duane Lyman, who also designed the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society and the Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo.
