About Lost Marsh

Lost Marsh is a 349-acre recreational park located in Hammond, Indiana. The park features a challenging 18-hole golf course, driving range, banquet facilities, and an expansive wetland conservation area. It was built on the site of a former BP oil refinery that was closed in 1982. The creation of Lost Marsh required an extensive environmental remediation effort, where toxic pollutants were removed from the soil and groundwater, and natural habitats were restored. Today, it is a popular destination for golfers, hikers, birdwatchers, and nature enthusiasts who want to enjoy the scenic natural beauty of the marsh. Additionally, Lost Marsh was the site of the 2012 US Olympic Trials for canoe and kayak racing.
