About Flamborough Head

Flamborough Head is a chalk headland situated on the coast of Bridlington, East Yorkshire, England. It forms part of the Heritage Coastline and the Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast, which stretch for over 30 miles. The area is characterised by its stunning cliffs and rock formations, such as the famous white cliffs that form a natural arch known as the 'triple arch'. The headland is also home to two lighthouses; the 'old lighthouse' - now a museum, and the 'new lighthouse' which is still operational. The area is a popular spot for visitors who enjoy bird watching, walking and rock climbing, with numerous paths and trails for visitors to explore. Flamborough Head is also known for its rich history, with evidence of human habitation dating back to the prehistoric era. The headland was once a hotspot for smuggling and shipwrecks, and played an important role in the First and Second World Wars. Today, the area is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is recognised as an important ecological site, supporting a range of rare and endangered plant and animal species.
