About Austerlitz

Austerlitz is a small town located in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It is most well-known for the Battle of Austerlitz, also known as the Battle of the Three Emperors, which took place on December 2, 1805 between the French army, led by Napoleon Bonaparte, and the combined Austrian and Russian armies. The battle was a decisive victory for Napoleon and marked the end of the War of the Third Coalition. It is considered one of Napoleon's greatest victories and is often cited as a classic example of his military strategy and tactics. Today, the town of Austerlitz is officially known as Slavkov u Brna and is home to a museum dedicated to the Battle of Austerlitz. The museum features exhibits on the battle's history and significance, as well as artifacts and memorabilia from the era. Each year, on the anniversary of the battle, a reenactment is held in the town, featuring hundreds of participants dressed in period costume.
