About Foxfire
Foxfire is a rural village located in Montgomery County, North Carolina. It was named after the glowing fungus, Foxfire, that grows in the woods surrounding the village. Foxfire was founded in the 1960s as a community-based project to preserve the folk traditions and history of the Appalachian region. The Foxfire Museum and Heritage Center is located in Foxfire Village and features exhibits about the traditional crafts, music, and way of life of the Appalachian people. The village is also home to the Foxfire golf club, which is a popular destination for golfers in the area.
