About Germantown Country Club
As the name suggests, Germantown Country Club was located in Germantown, Tennessee. The club was established in the early 1970s and boasted a beautiful 18-hole championship golf course that was open to members as well as the general public. The course was designed by respected golf course architect Joe Lee and was known for its challenging layout and superb condition. However, in 2016, the Germantown Country Club closed its doors permanently due to financial difficulties and declining membership. The closure was a blow to the local golf community, as the club had been a popular destination for golfers of all skill levels for over four decades. The property was eventually sold to a developer and the golf course was bulldozed to make way for new residential and commercial developments. Today, the former site of Germantown Country Club has been transformed into a mixed-use development known as Thornwood. The development includes a wide range of residential options, including apartments, townhomes, and single-family homes, as well as retail and office space. Despite the closure of Germantown Country Club, the community surrounding the former club remains a desirable place to live and work.
