It starts in the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains and eventually empties into the man-made Lake Mission Viejo. The creek is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes and is a popular destination for hiking and outdoor recreation. The name "Tijeras" means "scissors" in Spanish, which is likely a reference to the sharp rocks and steep terrain along the creek's banks.
