About Royal Winchester

Royal Winchester is a historic landmark in Hampshire, England. It was originally built as a royal palace for King Alfred the Great in the 9th century and later became the capital of England during the Saxon period. The palace was destroyed in the 12th century and the site was later used to build Winchester Cathedral. In the 13th century, Henry III founded the Royal Winchester Castle, which served as a residence for the monarchs during the medieval period. The castle was eventually dismantled in the 17th century, but the Great Hall still remains today. The hall is famous for its King Arthur’s Round Table, which dates back to the 13th century and is believed to be the legendary table of King Arthur and his knights. Today, Royal Winchester is a tourist attraction and a popular destination for history enthusiasts.
