About John Blumberg

John Blumberg is a former politician and businessman who served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1958 to 1969. He was born in Winnipeg in 1929 and grew up in the rural community of Headingley, Manitoba. After completing his education at the University of Manitoba, Blumberg worked as a businessman in the field of construction and real estate development. During his time in politics, Blumberg served in a number of key cabinet positions, including Minister of Municipal Affairs and Minister of Highways and Transportation. He was also heavily involved in the development of the Red River Floodway, a major infrastructure project that has helped to prevent flooding in the region. Today, Blumberg is best known for his philanthropic work. In 2003, he donated a large amount of land in Headingley to the City of Winnipeg, which was used to create John Blumberg Park, a popular recreational area that includes trails, picnic sites, and a large pond. Blumberg has also been recognized for his support of a variety of other charitable causes, including health care, education, and the arts.
